Edifire Security Policy
To protect your electronic files, Edifire employs physical, electronic, and procedural controls, adapting them as technology and new threats evolve. Edifire also requires its third party vendors to employ similar physical, electronic and procedural controls. The security measures are designed specifically to protect your electronic files regardless of how you access them — on a computer or on a mobile device. We want your access to be secure as well as convenient. Although we cannot disclose all of our security tactics, here are just a few of the measures we take.
Implementing email verification and password requirements
When you register for access to Edifire, you must provide a unique email address and then verify that email address. In addition, you must create a secure secret password, allowing you safe and secure access to your files. We have proprietary monitoring and other protective procedures in place, some of which are visible to customers, such as limits on password entry attempts.
No matter how you contact Edifire, we verify your identity before granting you access to your Edifire account.
Multifactor security PINs
If you try to log in from a computer we don’t recognize, we may challenge you to provide a security PIN that is sent to your previously registered mobile device via SMS. This helps us ensure that it is really you accessing your account.
Some of the strongest methods of encryption commercially available today are employed to protect your personal information, like your username and password or your electronic files, as they travel from your computer to Edifire’s systems. In addition, the files that are stored in Edifire systems are also strongly encrypted.
Firewalls or other electronic barriers are also in place to prevent unauthorized access to the Edifire networks.
Virus software offers
Use of Edifire may provide you access to special offers with leading virus scan vendors, helping you protect your computer. The software is easy to install and runs in the background without slowing down your computer.
When we use email to communicate with you, we use a technology that enables us to digitally sign our messages so that our customers can verify that the messages have not been forged or altered.
Edifire automatically logs you off after an extended period of inactivity. This reduces the risk that others could access your information from your unattended account.
The security systems are designed to monitor Edifire around the clock to provide you with timely and secure access to your account.
Restricted access to customer data
Just as physical access to work areas is limited, access to systems containing customer electronic files is also restricted and closely monitored.
Our employees receive thorough training on security practices and are held accountable for adhering to them. Employees who work directly with customers also receive training on emerging risks, such as identity theft.
